Shimla: A Beautiful Hill Station


Shimla is one of the famous hill stations in India. It is located on the lower ranges of Himalayan Mountains, 7,234 Ft. above the sea level.  Earlier it was known as summer capital of British in India in 1864 and now it is known as the capital of Himachal Pradesh. The city is known for its natural beauty, life style, culture and much more. There is no doubt that Shimla is known as queen of hill stations.

As we travel towards the city we will find that the valley is surrounded with pine, oak, deodar and rhododendron forest. This hill station has got major attractions to visit like mall road, summer hills, and Christ church, Tara Devi temple, the Ridge, lakkar bazar and many more.  Shimla is also famous for its arts and crafts that include jewelry, embroidered shawls, sculptures etc. Carpets and rugs are also quite popular among the tourists. The city has some famous temples and palaces to see.

A Jakhu hill is one of the amazing spot to explore. It is 2 km from Shimla at the height of 8000 Ft.,it is the highest peak from where the tourists can enjoy panoramic view of the town and the snow covered Himalaya’s.  Over here the visitors can find a very old temple of  Lord Hanuman. The statue of Hindu deity, Lord Hanuman is single statue that stands at the highest altitude 8,500 feet above the sea level. The height of the statue is 108 feet. 

In 1974 Shimla state museum was opened and since then it has been protecting the culture wealth of the state. Here the travelers can find wonderful collections of miniature Pahari paintings, sculptures, bronzes wood carvings and much more

Mall road is the main shopping center of Shimla. Here you can find variety of shops, restaurants, hotel, clubs, bars, post offices etc. The traveller must visit this place as the journey would be incomplete without exploring the mall road. 

To reach Shimla the travelers can take train from Kalka. By road the tourist can travel in luxury coaches or taxis from Chandigarh (117 km), Delhi (370 km) and Manali (280 Km). The nearest airport is Jubbar-Hatti i.e. 23 km from Shimla.

Shimla is a truly wonderful Tourist Places in Himachal. It is a destination where newlywed couples come here to spend beautiful time and visit Temples in Himachal. Those who are nature lovers have got lot to see and explore around the city.
